Throughout the COVID crisis, the demand for community support services has been steadily on the rise, particularly in Ottawa Community Housing neighborhoods such as Morrison Gardens. Marta Clark runs the Morrison Gardens Community House, which, since mid-March, has seen the demand for food in low-income and marginalized families spike due to lost jobs and the cancellation of school breakfast programs. In partnership with the Ottawa Food Bank, Marta and her 2 volunteer coordinators are now supporting 50 or more families per week with meals and groceries, and they deliver breakfast boxes directly to the kids that most need them.
