College: Griffin spent six seasons with the Texas State Bobcats, appearing in game action from 2016 to 2019. All told, he saw 44 games, with 39 starts, and recorded 258 tackles, 25.5 for a loss, 7.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.

Griffin earned all-Sun Belt third team honours in 2017, as well as an honourable mention in 2018.
