OTTAWA – The Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League announced today that quarterback Jesse Mills of the Carleton Ravens and quarterback Derek Wendell of the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees have been added to the team’s first-ever training camp line-up as non-roster invitees.

Both players will work out with the REDBLACKS until the team travels to Regina for the first exhibition game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on June 13.

“It’s important for our organization to give back to the community and we wanted to extend this invitation as a gesture of goodwill to our city’s university football partners at Carleton and the University of Ottawa,” said REDBLACKS’ GM Marcel Desjardins. “It’s our hope that these players acquire valuable experience and take that experience to the playing field during the 2014 CIS season.”

Players will begin arriving in Ottawa next week, with rookie camp opening on May 28 at 3:30 p.m. at Keith Harris Stadium on the campus of Carleton University. The first official day of training camp is Sunday, June 1 at Keith Harris Stadium. The REDBLACKS will hold back-to-back practices on opening day, beginning at 8 a.m.

Fans are welcome to attend. Parking is available in Lot P5 and payment for parking can be made at the pay-and-display kiosks.
