Going, going … Fewer than 1,000 tickets remain for historic REDBLACKS home opener

OTTAWA – The Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League annouce that fewer than 1,000 tickets remain for the team’s historic home opener at the new TD Place at Lansdowne.

The team also announced its season ticket base now exceeds 16,000 fans.  The home opener on July 18 against the Toronto Argonauts at 7 p.m. marks the return of the CFL to the nation’s capital after an eight-year absence and the official opening of Ottawa’s new 24,000-seat stadium complex, TD Place.

“I am awed and inspired by the enthusiasm with which our community has embraced the REDBLACKS, TD Place and the broader Lansdowne project,” said Jeff Hunt, President of the sports division of the REDBLACKS parent company, Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG).  “My partners and I started this journey six years ago as CFL fans who missed the game, hoping we had enough support to make a go of it with a new franchise.  I think we have our answer … YES!”

The REDBLACKS remaining tickets for opening night are only available in a season ticket package or as part of a two-game opening weekend package, which includes the TD Place debut of OSEG’s North American Soccer League franchise, Ottawa Fury FC. 

Fury FC kicks-off its summer season at TD Place on Sunday, July 20at 3:00 p.m. against the legendary New York Cosmos.  Information on the two-game “I’m Going” football/soccer package and REDBLACKS season tickets is available on the team website, www.OttawaREDBLACKS.com.   

The REDBLACKS also announced today that tickets for all remaining home games (games two through nine) are also now available.  Fans are encouraged to visit the website for further details.
