OTTAWA – The Ottawa REDBLACKS were welcomed today by the Mayor of Gatineau, Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin, to highlight the return of the Canadian Football League and professional football to the Outaouais region.

“We’re proud to be here and are well aware that the fans in Gatineau are important to us,” said Marcel Desjardins, general manger of the REDBLACKS. “We hope that Francophones of our region know that not only are they welcome at our games, but that they’ll be well served in French at TD Place during our team’s inaugural 2014 season, and for the seasons to come.”

Jean-Guy Gorley and Nicholas St-Pierre, the French-language voice of the REDBLACKS on radio station Unique FM, were also present at the Gatineau City Hall today. Mr. Gorley and Mr. St-Pierre are Francophone ambassadors of the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) who are promoting and facilitating ties with the Gatineau and Outaouais business community.

“In our first meetings with OSEG, it was very clear that the management was determined in their desire to properly serve Francophones of the region,” said Mr. Gorley, President of Solo Direct Media Inc. “The things that the organization has already done, such as the REDBLACKS’ mock game at the complex sportif Mont Bleu, and in programs to come, demonstrate OSEG’s commitment toward the Francophone community.”

An official home helmet of the REDBLACKS was presented to Mayor Pedneault-Jodoin by Desjardins on behalf of the team, the same type of helmet which the Ottawa players will be wearing for the home opener at TD Place on Friday, July 18 against the Toronto Argonauts.

Your REDBLACKS ticket is also a bus pass for free transit to and from TD Place on game days.  The service starts 3-hours before and extends for 3-hours after the game.  Your ticket also entitles you to free Park and Shuttle service from several parking lots near TD Place or free Park & Ride service on OC Transpo and STO.  For more information visit our Transportation Page.
