OTTAWA- The Battle of Ontario will reach a whole new level tonight when the Ottawa REDBLACKS host the Toronto Argonauts. The rivalry between the two cities, as we’ve seen with the Sens and Leafs, will be kicked-up a notch with a battle on the TD Place gridiron.
The two cities last met on the football field November 5, 2005 when the Ottawa Renegades (forerunners of the REDBLACKS) defeated the Agros 27-17. Since then, the rivalry has only grown thanks to the action on the ice!
It is a guarantee that the Battle of Ontario will bring out fans from all over to support their favourite city and, in some cases, heckle each other. This rivalry is one that can quickly turn friends into enemies while the clock is running if they support the other team.
It is no surprise that the city of Ottawa has caught REDBLACKS fever. With the home opener long sold out, tonight’s battle of Ontario is definitely the hottest ticket in town.
RNation will blanket TD Place in red and black and cheer until they have absolutely nothing left. Ottawa is setting out to show Toronto and the rest of the country that “We R Back.”
REDBLACKS and Argos fans have also gotten into the spirt online creating an axe versus sword campaign using team mascots Big Joe and Jason. This game is the beginning of a great new rivalry.
