OTTAWA – Defensive back Eric Fraser is one of the several CFL veterans on the REDBLACKS who has something to prove tonight when Ottawa faces off against the Calgary Stampeders.
Fraser spent four seasons with the Stampeders before joining the REDBLACKS. He is anticipating a real defensive contest tonight at McMahon Stadium against his former teammates.
“It will be a good game,” said Fraser with excitement. “They have a good defence and we have a good defence. I think it will be a little bit of a defensive struggle in this one.
The REDBLACKS are planning to go back to the basics tonight, after last week’s loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
“We are going to simple it down a little bit, get back to the basics and do what we do,” said Fraser. “Try not to do much crazy stuff, make it easy on the young guys so they can fly around and play fast.”
Fraser does not believe it will take much to motivate his younger teammates despite the difficult first quarter in week 6.
“Just come back and work hard,” he said. “I don’t think you have to tell them too much, they are young guys. It’s wasn’t a completely bad football game, it was a bad quarter of football, not the whole game. We did some good things in the game, but obviously we gave up a 24 point lead.”
Fraser, who was acquired by Ottawa in the CFL Expansion Draft, says it will be good to return to his former stadium.
“It will be good, different obviously being in the visitor locker room” said Fraser. “My sister is up there so I will get to see my baby niece and get to see some of the guys on the team that I am still pretty good friends with, so that will be nice.”
