OTTAWA – Wallace Miles scored his first touchdown of the season in the REDBLACKS 38-17 loss to the Calgary Stampeders.
Miles caught a long pass from Henry Burris for a 32 yard touchdown late in the third quarter. Only the wide receivers second career CFL touchdown after being picked up by Ottawa in the CFL expansion draft.
Earlier in the first half, Jasper Simmons jumped in front of Bo Levi Mitchell’s pass intended for Marquay McDaniel for a 29 yard interception. It was Simmons’ second major interception of the season after the game winning interception at TD Place against Toronto.
Burris then handed the ball off to Chevon Walker for an easy 1 yard into the end zone for Ottawa’s first touchdown of the game. It was the running back’s first touchdown since Ottawa’s last road trip out west against Edmonton on July 11th.
Chevon Walker, Ottawa’s leading rusher, eclipsed the 300-yard mark on the season with 22 yards against Calgary.
Jermaine Robinson came out strong for Ottawa, showing his fury to the Stampeders offence throughout the game. Several times the defensive back displayed his speed flying across the field to make big hits when it mattered.
The REDBLACKS fall to third in the East and will next face the Edmonton Eskimos on August 15 at TD Place.
