OTTAWA – #RNation is being challenged by the Ottawa REDBLACKS as part of Purolator Tackle Hunger Weekend. Are you up for the challenge?
The REDBLACKS and the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group are challenging the City of Ottawa with a goal of 50,000 pounds of food donations for the Ottawa Food Bank.
This weekend, the REDBLACKS and the Ottawa Fury FC are each hosting game day food drives. Fans are encouraged to bring along non-perishable food or cash donations to TD Place for the REDBLACKS contest against the Edmonton Eskimos on Friday and the Fury FC’s matchup against the San Antonio Scorpions on Sunday.
Fans who participate will have the special privilege of having their photo taken with the Grey Cup and the NASL Soccer Bowl trophies that will be on hand for their respective game. This weekend will mark the first time the two major league trophies are together in Ottawa.
By following Purolator on Twitter and tweeting their photo with the Grey Cup or the NASL Soccer Bowl using the hashtag #TackleHunger, fans will be entered for a chance to win a pair of tickets to an upcoming REDBLACKS or FURY FC home game.
In addition to all of the weekend’s activities, Purolator will make a donation to the Ottawa food bank every time the REDBLACKS sack the opposing teams quarterback during the regular season.
The Purolator Tackle Hunger program is part of Purolator inc.’s initiative to help alleviate hunger in communities where it operates through collecting donations and helping raise awareness about the issue of hunger in Canada. The program has helped deliver the equivalent of more than 6.5 million pounds of food to food banks across Canada.
Clean out your pantries, grab something extra on your next trip to the grocery store, and give generously! If you don’t have any food donations, cash donations will be happily accepted! With your help the City of Ottawa and the REDBLACKS will make history with Purolator Tackle Hunger weekend.
