OTTAWA – It is deja-vu at TD Place for Brett Maher as he puts all of the REDBLACKS points on the board to give them an 8-4 lead at the half.
The kicker made a 17-yard field goal with two minutes remaining in the first quarter and a 20-yard field goal early in the second. He also opened the scoring with a single quite early in the game, getting the REDBLACKS fans all fired up.
The REDBLACKS defence came out like bulls in an Edmonton Eskimos china shop! Serving up 21 aggressive tackles to the Edmonton offence in the first half. Connor Williams and Brandon Lang gave Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly a special treat, serving up two big sacks to total a 460lbs donation to the Ottawa Food Bank as part of the Purolator Tackle Hunger program
Henry Burris joined the 53,000 yard club, one of only four players in CFL history to do so, after collecting 145 yards in the first half.
Wallace Miles made an awesome 55-yard catch to bring the REDBLACKS within striking distance of the Edmonton endzone early in the second quarter. Meanwhile former Edmonton Eskimo Carlton Mitchell made four key catches in the first half totaling 24-yards against his former team.
The REDBLACKS are looking to obtain both their second win of the season. The REDBLACKS currently sit third the east with a 1-5 record while the Eskimos are second in the west with a record of 5-1.
