OTTAWA – Henry Burris joined the 53,000 yard club after collecting 255 yards in Friday night’s 10-8 loss to the Edmonton Eskimos. He is one of only four players in CFL history to do so.

“Down the road I will be able to look back on all those accomplishments,” said the veteran quarterback. “But of course, right now my pure focus is on giving our coaching staff, the team and the city exactly what they deserve, going out each and every week to win games and doing it great fashion.”

Matt Carter was the receiving leader with five catches for 97 total yards. While former Edmonton Eskimo Carlton Mitchell made five key passes totaling 24-yards against his former team.

It was deja-vu at TD Place for Brett Maher as he scored all of the REDBLACKS 8 points. The kicker made a 17-yard field goal with two minutes remaining in the first quarter and a 20-yard field goal early in the second.

The REDBLACKS defence come out like bulls in an Edmonton Eskimos china shop! Serving up 59 aggressive tackles to the Edmonton offence.

Connor Williams and Brandon Lang gave Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly a special treat serving up two big sacks in the first half. The two sacks would total a 460lbs donation to the Ottawa Food Bank as part of the Purolator Tackle Hunger program.

The REDBLACKS third consecutive sellout crowd of 24,291 came out in full force for the Purolator Tackle Hunger game. They collected 29,300 pounds of food for the Ottawa Food Bank, putting the City of Ottawa halfway towards their challenge of 50,000 pounds of food.

“I have been around this league for a long time and to start a brand new football team and have three sellouts is an incredible achievement,” said head coach Rick Campbell.

“I am always proud, I am proud to be part of this community,” said Campbell. “I think it is a very important part of our football team, winning on the football field is our goal but also winning in the community.”

Fans will also be able to make a contribution towards the 50,000 lbs goal at Sunday’s 3:00pm Ottawa Fury FC game.

The REDBLACKS fall to fourth in the east with a 1-6 record while the Eskimos climb to first in the west with a record of 6-1.The REDBLACKS will next host the Calgary Stampeders Sunday August, 24 at 3:00PM.
