OTTAWA – Matt Carter is having a career high season this year with the REDBLACKS and Moblie App users thought Sunday’s game against the Edmonton Eskimos was worth special recognition. He was voted the REDBLACKS mobile app Player of the Game for week eight.
“It’s a nice honor but unfortunately at the end of the day we didn’t get the win” said Carter. “There is a play I would like to have back but it’s a nice recognition from the fans and I appreciate that. Hopefully this week will be a better outcome for the team and hopefully I’ll have a better performance.”
Carter had one of the must watch moments of the game Sunday when he made a spectacular 35 yard sideline catch in the second quarter. That play earned him one of the coveted top spots on the CFL’s top ten plays of the week.
Carter and the REDBLACKS will play the second of their home and home games this Sunday against the Calgary Stampeders at 3pm. The game is expected to be the team’s fourth consecutive sellout crowd, making TD Place one of the toughest and loudest road stops in the CFL.
“It’s amazing, I don’t think the fans realize how important they are to our success especially when the defence is on the field,” said the wide receiver. “…Our fans have done a great job and they have got to keep doing that to make it hard on Calgary’s offence this weekend.”
Ottawa fans have not been shy about showing their excitement for the return of football in Ottawa and it certainly has not gone unnoticed by Carter.
“I Love REDBLACK Nation, you’re the best fans in the CFL!” said Carter. “Stay with us we are so close to getting through this plateaux. We love you all and keep cheering loud for us.”
