OTTAWA – REDBLACKS started off the game with a BANG!
During the fourth play of the game, CFL veteran Jonathan Williams snatched Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell’s pass out of the air at the Calgary 34 and ran it into the endzone for his first ever CFL touchdown.
Shortly after Williams’ TD defensive lineman Justin Capiccotti served Mitchell his first sack of the game, building off the momentum of the REDBLACKS early touchdown.
Late in the first, Jerrell Gavins made a crucial play battling to knock down Mitchell’s pass intended for Sederrik Cunningham deep in the Ottawa end.
The REDBLACKS defence battled to keep the Stampeders offence out of the endzone early in the second. Antoine Pruneau made a dynamite play getting in the way of the pass intended for Calagary’s Marquay McDaniel. The REDBLACKS held the Stampeders to only a feild goal attempt.
Henry Burris and the REDBLACKS’ offensive line began to connect late in the second quarter on a 5 play 39 yard drive. During which Burris found Khalil Paden for his first pass as a REDBLACK after being signed by the team in early August. Ottawa was unable to capitalize on the drive.
The Stampeders currently lead the REDBLACKS 8-7 at the half.
#RNation is out in full force once again at TD Place. The sold-out crowd seems to be more enthusiastic the ever on the beautiful sunny day.
