OTTAWA — The Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and Spring:  Cheer, Dance & Tumbling, today announced audition plans for the REDBLACKS cheer and dance teams.

After a stellar opening season, the REDBLACKS cheer and dance teams are now preparing for an even bigger and better year two!  Tryouts will be held on Saturday, March 14 at the Delta Hotel in Ottawa for experienced stunt cheerleaders, gymnasts and dancers 18 years of age and older.  The cheer team and the dance teams will be separate entities working together to entertain fans at REDBLACKS games at TD Place and in the community.  Final auditions (9 a.m. to noon for dance team; 2 to 5 p.m. for cheer team) will take place at Nordstrom Court in the Rideau Centre on Sunday, March 15.

“REDBLACKS fans were highly complementary of the combination of athleticism, precision movement and grace displayed by our cheer and dance teams last season,” said Jeff Hunt, President of OSEG Sports, the REDBLACKS parent company.  “Modern, competitive cheer and dance teams are incredibly entertaining and they certainly add a great deal to our fan experience and community activities.”

The REDBLACKS’ cheerleading and dance programs, managed by Spring, will select up to 25 cheerleaders and 25 dancers to perform at all home games and take part in community events, promotions and charity events.

The programs will once again be led by Orleans native Lisa Aucoin and her husband, Kenny Feeley.  Kenny was a national champion cheerleader at the University of Louisville and Gym Tyme All-Stars in Kentucky. He is a coach of the Canadian co-ed elite team, five-time world champions.

Lisa is the International Regional Director for Cheerleading in Canada and a judge at the ICU Cheerleading World Championships. Together, they own Spring:  Cheer, Dance & Tumbling, the largest international instructional cheerleading company in the world.  The REDBLACKS have partnered with Spring to manage all facets of their cheer and dance programs.
