Legendary CFL QB Russ Jackson Visits REDBLACKS Training Camp

Photo: Scott Grant

On Wednesday morning, former Rough Riders great, Russ Jackson attended REDBLACKS training camp. He shared some of his knowledge and experience of the game with the players and coaching staff during his short visit.

A few of the rookies at camp had no idea who Jackson was. Henry Burris quickly changed that, he told them that Russ was the CFL’S Johnny Unitas. The rookies definitely understood that comparison.

The three-time CFL Most Outstanding Player, Jackson spontaneously decided to attend REDBLACKS training camp, as he was already in Ottawa with his wife, Lois, visiting from their home in Burlington, ON. Head coach Rick Campbell escorted Jackson onto the field during a break in the action. Though many players knew of his greatness, Campbell thought that those who did not would be inspired after meeting the living legend.

Coach Campbell spoke about what it meant to have the Canadian Football Hall of Fame inductee at practice.
