This week Throwback Thursday looks at one of the leaders of the REDBLACKS’ defence, DL Keith Shologan scoring his first, and only, CFL touchdown with the Riders in 2009.
Affectionately known as “Sholo”, the father of (soon to be) three played six seasons with the Roughriders before GM Marcel Desjardins selected him in the 2013 CFL Expansion Draft.
Shologan was a stand out in Saskatchewan, recording an average of 27.2 tackles each year with the Riders. He won the Grey Cup twice (2010, 2013) and was named Most Valuable Canadian in the 2010 championship game.
Most defensive lineman score touchdowns via turnovers, much like Zach Evans’ early season rumble, though Keith did it “J.J. Watt-style” and lined up as a tight end.
Sholo scored his first ever CFL touchdown on a 1-yard reception from quarterback Steven Jyles, helping the Riders defeat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-23.
A great moment in the great career of REDBLACKS DL Keith Shologan.
