The 2011 Grey Cup Most Valuable Canadian is having yet another impressive season. Through nine games, Lions’ running back has recorded 630 rushing yards and 353 receiving yards, putting him on pace for career year statistically.
Harris has racked up over 100 total yards four times this season, along with six TDs. With QB Travis Lulay sidelined on the six-game injured list look for the Lions to use the ground game more than usual.
REDBLACKS receiver Greg Ellingson deserves a few free steaks. Week after week, the Florida-native has been featured in the CFL’s KegSize Play of the Week with unbelievable catch after unbelievable catch.
Even in Ottawa’s balanced offensive attack, Ellingson has tallied 459 yards and two touchdowns, though his stats are not the reason he’s on this list. When ball get snapped on Sunday, keep your eyes on number 82 and he’s sure to impress.
DL Shawn Lemon’s addition to the REDBLACKS’ defence could not have come at a better time. Though leading the league in sacks with 34, Ottawa just lost their best pass rusher, Aston Whiteside, to a season ending injury.
The 2014 Grey Cup champion will fill in at Whiteside’s defensive end position and brings a winning mentality to the nation’s capital. In his last game against the Lions, Lemon recorded two sacks, a tackle, and a forced fumble, leading the Stamps defence to only allow 16 points.
Let’s hope to see a lot of #LemonDrops on social media, as that hashtag signifies a sack for the D-lineman.
Not only can he dance, this little know CFL backup has seven years of NFL experience. Starting four games in Miami and three games for Washington, quarterback John Beck could make things interesting for the REDBLACKS defence.
At 34 years old, Beck won’t be a nervous rookie on the field, Lions head coach Jeff Tedford knows his QB prepares like a professional and will be ready to start on Sunday. “We’re right in the thick of it… and Beck gives us the best chance to win right now,” said Tedford.
Whether he has a great game or not, Henry Burris’ name makes headlines almost every week. The 16-year CFL vet has done it all over an illustrious career that still shines bright. With improved offensive weapons around him, Burris is having his best season since 2012.
Hank ranks fourth among CFL quarterbacks with 2,504 passing yards, while holding two games in hand to those above him. Burris’ best game in 2015 so far was against the Argos, completing 32 of 36 pass attempts for 426 yards. He leads the offence every week and will need to so again on Sunday.
