Prior to every REDBLACKS home game, a Season Ticket Holder of the Game will be chosen to experience some exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to TD Place.
On Thursday, October 1, longtime REDBLACKS (and Ottawa football) fans Pierre and Richard De Blois were selected as the Season Ticket Holders of the Game.
Pierre and Richard’s uncle, Bruno Rouleau first bought season tickets in 1955 in the north stands, before the south side even existed. At that time, fans would drive their cars right up onto the sidelines and watch the game on the pinic blankets or in the comfort of a warm vehicle. His allegiance quickly changed, as Bruno switched to the south side when it was built in 1961.
It was then, that Section FF, Row 1, Seats 1 and 2 behind the Rough Riders bench became their home at Lansdowne. When Bruno passed away in 1984, Richard took over the tickets until 1996 when the Rough Riders left Ottawa. They both also renewed their season tickets from 2002 to 2006.
They once again showed their passion for Ottawa football by purchasing season tickets in 2014 with the arrival of the REDBLACKS. Their family has had continuous, uninterrupted season tickets from 1955 with the Rough Riders to 2015 with REDBLACKS, supporting Ottawa football for 60 years.
Together, they raised and proudly waved the #RNation flag, enjoyed a delicious pre-game dinner at Otto’s Club, took in pre-game warmups on the sidelines, and was featured in a special halftime videoboard presentation.
Favourite Current REDBLACKS Player: Richard – Being a defensive back for the Ottawa Sooners from 1979-1983, has a soft-spot for Jovon Johnson. Pierre – Brad Sinopoli (uOttawa alumni).
Least Favourite Team: Whomever the game day opponent is, so on October 1, the Montreal Alouettes.
