3-v-3: Players to watch tonight at TD Place

REDBLACKS

Henry Burris: The 40-year-old quarterback engineered one of the most amazing efforts by a quarterback of any age last Thursday, breaking a CFL record with 45 completions and throwing for a career-high 504 yards in a dominant 39-17 win over the Alouettes.

Hank finished the night with another CFL record for the highest completion percentage in a game (min. 40 attempts) at 84.9% (45-for-53). Both league records had been held by former Montreal QB Anthony Calvillo.

Burris will be hard pressed to put together another all-star performance like last week, but look for him to be on his game with East Division dominance on the line tonight.

Jeremiah Johnson: In Ottawa’s first two games against the Argos, Johnson has put up some great rushing and receiving numbers. Combined, JJ ran for 72 yards and racked up 64 receiving yards, while adding two touchdowns as well.

JJ still leads the CFL in TDs, though he’s not alone at the top any longer. Eskimos receiver Kenny Stafford sits tied with Johnson, as both players boast eight touchdowns each. Look for him to take back the league lead tonight against the Argos.

Chris Williams: The REDBLACKS most publicized off-season acquisition has officially found his groove in Ottawa’s offensive attack. Over the last three games, Williams has recorded 465 total yards and two touchdowns.

More impressive though, 336 of those yards have come off receptions. Williams has caught 23 passes in those three games, which leads the REDBLACKS receiving corps in that category. Look for Chris to be all over the field against Toronto tonight at TD Place.

ARGOS

Trevor Harris: The Argos starting QB has put together an impressive season in Ricky Ray’s absence. Against Ottawa two weeks ago, Harris completed 24 of 36 passes for 282 yards, while also adding two touchdowns. Though Ray could start tonight, Argos head coach Scott Milanovich doesn’t want to mess with a good thing. Harris will need to be at his best, if the Argos hope to win tonight.

Chad Owens: The Flyin’ Hawaiian had a heck of game against the REDBLACKS in Week 14. Combining returns and receptions, Owens racked up 168 yards and one TD against Ottawa on September 26. His touchdown came off an 87-yard punt return that seemed to stun Ottawa and ignite the Argos. Owens is sort of a wild card tonight. If he can get on the scoresheet for the Argos, Ottawa will have their hands full against their East Division rival.

Curtis Steele: The Argos finally have their number two rusher back in the lineup. Steele has missed all of the 2015 CFL season due to a knee injury suffered in training camp.

Last season, Curtis was a threat rushing and receiving. He combined for 850 yards and five touchdowns. Steele is hungry for the chance to help his team push towards the playoffs. If he can get enough touches tonight, look for Steele to be a force on the TD Place field tonight.
