For the third time this season, and the second in the last three weeks, Henry Burris has been honoured for yet another record-breaking performance.

The 40-year-old wonder manufactured one of the most remarkable efforts by a quarterback of any age last Thursday, October 1 at TD Place, setting a Canadian Football League record with 45 completions and throwing for a career-high 504 yards during a 39-17 victory over the Montreal Alouettes.

Burris finished the night with another CFL record for the highest completion percentage in a game of all-time (minimum 40 attempts) at 84.9% (45-for-53). Both league records had been held by Anthony Calvillo.

Since the end of August, Burris has been on an amazing run, shattering franchise, Ottawa CFL and league records.

He now owns the top two passing yardage games of any quarterback ever to wear the uniform of an Ottawa CFL team, surpassing even the names of legends such as Russ Jackson and Tom Clements.

Last month in Regina, Burris threw for 477 yards and had 35 completions during a 30-27 victory over Saskatchewan, setting what had been an Ottawa CFL record for passing yards in a game and completions.

The native of Spiro, Oklahoma now has completed passes for more the 300 yards in four consecutive games, and five of the last six. Burris leads the league with 4,115 passing yards and is on pace to break 5,000 yards for the third time in his career.

Last Thursday’s victory by the REDBLACKS provided the team with an 8-5 record heading into the final five games of the regular season.

A win tonight would move the REDBLACKS into sole possession of first place in the East Division and guarantee an Ottawa CFL franchise their first .500 season since 1992. For historic perspective, no Ottawa CFL team has been alone in first place in the second half of any season since 1985.

Fans can show appreciation for the REDBLACKS, playing just the second season in franchise history, as the regular season continues tonight at TD Place in a game against the Toronto Argonauts.

The game, which begins at 7:30 p.m., had originally been scheduled to be played at Rogers Centre in Toronto, but was moved to Ottawa due to accommodate the schedule of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Plenty of great seats for tonight’s historic match are available here, by calling 613-232-6767 x1, or directly from TD Place box office (located beside Gate 2).
