First-place showdown vs. Ticats at TD Place sold out

If Ottawa football history is to be made on Saturday at TD Place, it will be done in front of a full house.

#RNation has answered the call in spades, as the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group announced today that the Ottawa REDBLACKS against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday, November 7 is sold out.

The regular-season finale for both clubs will serve as a showdown for first place in the Canadian Football League’s East Division.

The REDBLACKS can clinch first place and a bye into the Eastern Final of the 103rd Grey Cup Playoffs with a win over the Ticats on Saturday. Ottawa would also finish in first place with a loss of five points or fewer.

But a win would be historic for the REDBLACKS, trying for a 12th victory of the season. No team in the history of Ottawa CFL football has ever won more than 11 games in one regular season.

For more perspective, this REDBLACKS team is one win from clinching an East Division championship game on home turf, which would put this Ottawa team one victory from a trip to the 103rd Grey Cup presented by Shaw in Winnipeg, in just the second year of franchise history.

Ottawa is assured of a home playoff game, the first CFL playoff game in Ottawa since 1983, regardless the outcome of Saturday’s game.

Fans can reserve a seat to an Ottawa home playoff game here, or by calling 613-232-6767, ext. 1.

The dates for the East Division playoff games:

  • Sunday, November 15 – Eastern Semi-Final at Ottawa or Hamilton
  • Sunday, November 22 – Eastern Final at Ottawa or Hamilton

The 103rd Grey Cup presented by Shaw will be played at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg on Sunday, November 29.
