The Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League and 104,7 Outaouais, a Cogeco Media radio station, today announced that 104,7 Outaouais will broadcast all home and away REDBLACKS games in the 2016 season. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“We’re delighted to welcome back 104,7 Outaouais to the REDBLACKS family,” said Bernie Ashe, CEO of the REDBLACKS parent company, Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG). “They did a great job on the home broadcasts last season and we’re thrilled that this year they’re expanding coverage to deliver away games to the Francophone community in the Ottawa/Gatineau region.”
104,7 Outaouais is Ottawa/Gatineau’s top French language talk radio station. Last season, with Marc Legault as the voice of the REDBLACKS and Denis Piché providing colour commentary, the station experienced a significant tune-in helping the REDBLACKS gain Francophone fans throughout the region. Olivier Beauregard will join them as sideline commentator this year.
“The REDBLACKS have truly captured the hearts of fans in our audience,” said Bob Rioux, General Manager of 104,7 Outaouais. “We experienced double-digit audience growth when games were played and that’s validation for the team and it’s French language community outreach efforts. They’ve really embraced the concept of making Francophone fans feel comfortable at home games and being part of the Francophone community and we’re proud to be a partner in those efforts.”
Marc Legault and Denis Piché will be back behind the microphones starting Monday June 13th when the REDBLACKS host Winnipeg in a CFL exhibition game. The team opens the regular season with a Grey Cup rematch in Edmonton on June 25th and their first home game will be July 8th against the Calgary Stampeders. Tickets for the REDBLACKS home opener and two others are now available. More information on the Home Opener Ticket Pack is available by CLICKING HERE.
