Top spot
Ottawa reclaimed top spot in the CFL’s East Division two weekends ago with a hard-fought win over the Edmonton Eskimos. With Ottawa on a bye week last week, all East Division opponents dropped their games, most notably the Argos dropped a 34-17 decision to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday, meaning the REDBLACKS will head into their game against Montreal with a one-point lead atop their division. With Montreal struggling and Ottawa playing at home, these are two critical points up for grabs.
Jovon’s return
Former REDBLACKS defensive back Jovon Johnson will make his first trip back to TD Place since moving on to the Montreal Alouettes in the offseason. The 32-year-old, who has 20 tackles, three sacks and an interception through seven games this season, joined Ottawa for its expansion season and remained with the club through the REDBLACKS’ run to the Grey Cup game last year. Johnson was credited with 87 tackles, a sack and five interceptions while with Ottawa.
