Burris is Back
After coming into last week’s game against Saskatchewan in the second half, veteran quarterback Henry Burris helped his team claw back to tie the game late and force overtime. Though Ottawa would ultimately lose the game, that performance – 138 yards and two touchdowns – has earned Burris the start against the Hamilton on Friday night.
Battle for the East
With just five points separating the first-place REDBLACKS and the last-place Alouettes in the CFL’s East Division, every game is important with four games remaining – a pair of home-and-home bouts with eastern opposition, Hamilton and Winnipeg. With Hamilton just a point off the pace, Friday’s game is sure to set the tone for this home-and-home series with the return affair October 21 at TD Place. With a win in Hamilton, coupled with Toronto and Montreal losing, Ottawa would qualify for the playoffs.
Depth at Receiver
Last season the REDBLACKS saw four receivers – Williams, Ellingson, Sinopoli and Jackson – eclipse the 1000-yard mark. In 2016, Williams (1246) and most recently Ellingson (1045) have hit that target again with Jackson (918) and Sinopoli (865) close behind. With Williams done for the season after going down with a knee injury (ACL) against Saskatchewan, Ottawa’s depth a receiver will be vital in the home stretch.
