Top 3 Storylines | Hamilton at Ottawa

Win and clinch

As the regular season winds down, the formula that decides playoff seeding in the CFL is getting simpler. After Ottawa officially clinched a post-season spot over the weekend, and with that at least one home playoff game, a win at home against Hamilton on Friday would lock up the East Division for the REDBLACKS. That would mean a bye in the first week of the playoffs and an East Final played at TD Place.

Deja vu

Just like last season, the REDBLACKS face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in back-to-back meetings at the end of the season. Ottawa would win both of those final regular season meetings last year, followed by a historic win over Hamilton, once again, in the East Final. While playoff positioning may or may not work out the same way, Ottawa is looking for a repeat and are already part of the way there after last week’s 30-29 win at Tim Hortons field.

QB questions?

While Ottawa will once again turn to veteran and reigning 2015 Most Outstanding Player Henry Burris when Hamilton comes to town on Friday, it’s not quite as clear who the Ticats will have under centre for the important game. Zach Collaros was ruled out of last week’s Ottawa/Hamilton tilt due to a concussion suffered against Calgary on Oct. 1. The Ticats have been tightlipped about Collaros’ status for this week so Ottawa will prepare for the possibility of facing either Collaros or backup Jeremiah Masoli.
