Away from TD Place for the second time this season, the Ottawa REDBLACKS are looking for what’s sure to be a hard-fought road win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, in a 9:30pm ET showdown at Mosaic Stadium.
Ottawa came agonizingly close to their first victory of the campaign, last week, falling 34-31 to the BC Lions. The REDBLACKS saw a pair of touchdowns snuck in by Caleb Evans, as well as rushing majors by William Powell, and Jeremiah Masoli, but couldn’t quite eek out the win.
The Riders were in action on Saturday, improving to 3-1 with a 41-20 throttling of the Montreal Alouettes. Cody Fajardo threw for 224 yards, and tossed two touchdowns to Kian Schaffer-Baker, and Mitchell Picton, respectively. Fajardo and Jamal Morrow scored on the ground.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
Jaelon Acklin, receiver, on the week-to-week improvement of the REDBLACKS offence:“Our goal was to score touchdowns last game, and we did that. We’ve just got to put a full game together, and we’ll be successful.”
Randall Evans, defensive back, on staying positive through a tough stretch: “It’s a long season, we’re still near the beginning, things will shake up. We’re confident. Every week we come in thinking we’re going to be 1-0 that week. That’s our goal.”
Mike Phair, defensive line coach, on the mentality he tries to impart upon his players: ““You’re going into battle, and everybody’s got to work together, everybody’s got a job to do.”
