The Ottawa REDBLACKS were unable to come away with a second straight win at home, Friday night, dropping a 17-3 decision to the Calgary Stampeders.
Quarterback Nick Arbuckle, entering the game late, threw for 186 yards, while Nate Behar paced the team with 78 receiving yards.
Calgary struck first, with a 51-yard field goal by Rene Paredes. Following another three-pointer by the Calgary kicker in the second quarter, Titus Wall intercepted a pass and ran it back to the REDBLACKS endzone, with a PAT making the score 13-0.
The third quarter saw Calgary tack on another field goal, and a rouge early in the fourth, before a field goal by Lewis Ward broke the shutout, and made it 17-3.
GAME NOTES:
• Linebacker Shaheed Salmon recorded his first career interception, picking off Stampeders pivot Bo Levi Mitchell in the third quarter.
• The REDBLACKS defence didn’t surrender a touchdown, as linebackers Avery Williams and Patrick Levels finished with a team-high five tackles apiece.
• Defensive lineman Cleyon Laing recorded his first sack of the season, tonight.
• Defensive lineman Nigel Romick notched a team-high three tackles on special teams.
