The Ottawa REDBLACKS are looking to get back in the win column, Sunday night, and they’ll do so by making their first Western road trip in six weeks.
Ottawa is on the road against the Edmonton Elks, looking to extend their opponents’ CFL-record home losing streak to 23 games. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm, live on TSN, and RDS.
Despite the absence of Nate Behar due to injury, the REDBLACKS will finally be getting some much-needed reinforcements on both sides of the ball. Star receiver Bralon Addison will make his REDBLACKS debut, seeing action for the first time in over a year after recovering from an Achilles injury. National receiver Tevaun Smith is a gametime decision, and on defence, electric defensive back Brandin Dandridge returns, along with sam linebacker Douglas Coleman.
It’s a much-needed boost after the REDBLACKS let last week’s game slip away, dropping a 25-24 result to the Montreal Alouettes on home field. Dustin Crum put up 172 all-purpose yards, rushing for a touchdown, and setting up a pair of majors on the ground for short-yardage QB Tyrrell Pigrome. On defence, Damon Webb and Sherrod Baltimore picked off Caleb Evans, Cleyon Laing forced and recovered a fumble, also registering a sack to go with others from Adam Auclair, Kene Onyeka, and Bryce Carter.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Edmonton finally got in the win column after losing their first nine, a week ago. Rising star quarterback Tre Ford threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns to Steven Dunbar. Ford also racked up 60 yards on the ground, and short yardage quarterback Taylor Cornelius added a touchdown of his own on the ground. All-Star receiver Eugene Lewis also returned last week for Hamilton, and will play vs Ottawa on Sunday.
Nyles Morgan tallied a pair of sacks in the effort, as did Jake Ceresna, to go with singles from Ed Gainey, AC Leonard, and Kony Ealy.
