As has been the case for much of the season, the Ottawa REDBLACKS showed flashes against the Montreal Alouettes, Saturday afternoon at TD Place, but just couldn’t find ways to finish in a 32-15 defeat.
Dustin Crum threw for 247 yards, and Ottawa received rushing touchdowns from Tyrrell Pigrome, and Devonte Williams, but turnovers cost them some critical points and field position, creating a second-half hole that proved insurmountable.
The Als jumped out to an early lead, off of a William Stanback rushing touchdown, and despite some good pushes from the REDBLACKS offence, a Tyson Philpot receiving major had the road side up 15-0 at the half.
A Montreal pick six expanded the lead with 4:25 to go in the third quarter, but Crum and Co. drove the REDBLACKS offence down the field, setting up the Pigrome touchdown.
Montreal’s defence again found the endzone soon after, however, on a scoop and score, before Williams cut back into the lead with 4:14 to go, making it a 32-15 final.
The REDBLACKS will look for immediate payback, visiting these same Als on Thanksgiving Monday, at 1:00pm.
