The Ottawa REDBLACKS were swept by the Montreal Alouettes in their current home and home split, as well as the season series, Thanksgiving Monday, falling 29-3 on the road.
The loss officially eliminated Ottawa from playoff contention.
Despite early big defensive plays; in Bryce Carter’s 12th sack of the season, and Brandin Dandridge’s fifth interception (both marks second-highest in the CFL), the Alouettes combined an early rouge with a 38-yard touchdown pass from Cody Fajardo to Tyson Philpot, holding an 8-0 lead early in the second quarter, that they would take into the half.
6:53 into the third, Caleb Evans snuck a touchdown across the Ottawa goalline, and Jose Maltos added a field goal soon after, to make it an 18-0 game.
An Als scoop-and-score defensive touchdown by Tyrice Beverette all but put a bow on the game for Montreal, though Michael Domagala broke the shutout bid with a 21-yard field goal for the REDBLACKS.
The REDBLACKS play their final road game, and penultimate game of the 2023 season, against the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday, at 7:00pm.
